I've had my TV, an Apex, for four years now...a few months after purchase, I realized that in certain picture modes, if a bright object (a light or jewelry, police badge, etc.) it would cause a line across the screen...it is most noticeable during night scenes with headlights...I can make them almost disappear if I turn the brightness all the way down, but this makes it difficult to see anything else...is the tube burnt out or is it possibly something inside?

same issue on the advents and other bestbuy/future shop house brands .....
one you have to turn dynamic contrast off -- which sometimes is not easy to do .... and never gets rid of it completely i notice ...
on the upside - the picture quality is pretty good from these units when they are working ,,
there are service menu settings that can pretty well fix the issue - but many settings and some changes in the cryptic service menus (they generally make little sense) will kill your set -"Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
So how do I turn off the dynamic contrast?
I've had it open...the picture tube seems to be made by Samsung...there are two dials, one for focus, and the other makes the picture either really dark or very foggy with white horizontal lines running through.
