Hello,
I'm interested in backing up my DVD movies by copying them from the DVD to my computer, to be able to store and play them from there instead of putting the DVDs in.
I used 'DVD-Cloner III' for this, but the resulting files were of a slightly grainy quality. I'm pretty decent with dealing with programs and looked in all the Options and Preferences, but they were very simple, and I couldn't find anything that deals with the quality or size of the saved movies.
So my question is, is there a popular DVD copying program that's known for reproducing movies at exact/full quality?
If there is one such program popular enough, it probably has this feature anyway, but can it also reproduce the actual Menu features of DVDs? 'DVD-Cloner III' only left separate files in a folder that had to be opened individually to view, for example, 1/3 of the movie, then another file for 2/3, then a last for 3/3, instead of having the 'interactive' elements of the original DVD, such as interactively selecting 'Play Movie,' 'Extras,' etc. from a Menu.
Thanks!
Andrew

Copy your dvds to the hd with dvdfab decrypter or dvd decrypter. No quality loss.
You will get a video_ts folder with vobs, ifo, bups but just use a dvd software player that can play dvds from your hd like PowerDVD, WinDVD, VLC, MediaPlayer Classic, just choose to "Open DVD File from the Hard Disk Drive" or open the VIDEO_TS folder or open the video_ts.ifo. -
Well either you compress or you don't compress.
If you don't compress then expect a lot of HDD space to be used.
If you do compress then the quality is less which isn't then "full-quality".
So which way do you want it?

Excellent, thanks, Baldrick! In case this helps anyone else as well, the program 'CloneDVD2' is what worked for me. I found it in Baldrick's 'dvd decrypter' link, which led to an 'AnyDVD' link, which led to a 'CloneDVD2' link. I tried 'dvdfab decrypter' first, but the process failed two times with this log:
04:32:19: Analyzing of DVD started
04:32:20: Analyzing of DVD completed successfully
04:32:20: Copy process started
04:36:44: Task_1 failed! Error=400
04:36:45: Process failed!
But then I tried CloneDVD2 and the process worked. I then followed your instructions about the video_ts.ifo file by opening it in MediaPlayer Classic, and it worked like a charm, 100% quality, interactive Menus and everything. Thanks a ton, Baldrick, and everyone else, for spending your own time to help me! =)
