  1. Hello, please could someone tell me the simplest (and free!) way to add a basic menu to an already created dvd. What I'm after is rather than my dvd starting straight away, a menu page appears that has a couple of buttons for chapter points for 2 to 3 sets of movie files. Incidently, I have the files in video TS folders and avi formats if I need to start from scratch before burning to dvd. Any help is much appreciated, thank you.

    Simple enough :

You will need dvdauthorgui , gimp , pgcedit , and vobedit .

1 : Use the gimp to create the menu background ... the same size as the video format .

2: You will need a small part of any clip in vob format ... must be same format as your original title .

3: Demux this small vob clip using vobedit to extract the video and audio stream's .

4: Run dvdauthorgui , insert first clip video stream , then it's audio .

5: Now background need's convert to mv2 ... the tool is in dvdauthorgui's shell ... look for it , and convert menu background to m2v ... once done , you can then sellect this new m2v as menu background .

6: Ignore the audio question if you have none .

7: Add button's to area's you created in the background that note's menu tag's ... such as Play , Chapters ... ect ...

8: Make sure when you make button's ... over to the right ... they are connected to the correct item ... Play = title1 ... Chapter Menu = chaptermenu1 .

9: Author project to folder .

    10: Run pgcedit .

11: Open dvd ... choose your original title , the one having menu replaced ... not this new one .

12: Remove all listed menu item's shown in pgcedit .

13: Now click to highlight your title that is listed , and choose import menu ... choose the menu from the project folder generated by dvdauthorgui .

14: Check nav command's ... there are a few guide's around that can help ... many of mine deal with pgcedit ... in the guides section ... any red / pink nav commands need replacing , as they will not work .

Basically ... leave the nav command's dvdauthorgui's menu use's ... and delete all listed with your title ... and add the "exit" to the post command area of the title ... "when end playback = exit" .

The only issue here relate's to subtitle's and multiple audio language's ... if these exist then funny thing's can happen .

In any case , that's why remote's where made ... just flick them on / off / change ... as explaining how to organize these thing's would be quite extensive ... something I have to get back too for guide's .
