I recently purchased a Samsung DVD-VR330 DVD recorder VCR combo. It seems to make very nice VCR to DVD copies. It has an automatic chapter creator, but I'm wondering if it can really do what I'd like it to do.

In the manual it says to get the auto chapter creator to work, you turn it on in the settings (which I've done), then you hit record and it asks you if you'd like to "create the chapter menu after this recording?" I want to do this. However, the only way I can figure out to copy from VCR to DVD is to use the VCRtoDVD copy button which automatically begins the recording process from VCR to DVD. When I do this, I am not prompted whether or not I want to create chapters after the recording is done. So, I get the recording, and it appears that it is broken into chapters, but I can't create a chapter menu, and there are no thumbnails to correspond with the chapter breaks. That is what I'd really like to have - little thumbnail pictures to show the chapters when I playback the DVD. Does anyone know of any way to get this process to work when copying from VCR to DVD on the Samsung?

Also, I may return the Samsung for the Panasonic ES35 if I can't get this to work. Does anyone know if the Panasonic allows chapters to be created with thumbnails when copying from VCR to DVD easily? I don't care about advanced editing, I just want thumbnails for the chapter breaks. I will primarily be using the machine to copy family home videos and don't care about editing out commercials and stuff like that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
