Hi, I would like to burn DVD (from AVI) with soft subtitle (not a permanent one) and create a main menu. I found AVI2DVD tool, which is almost perfect, except, creating menus is very limiting. What other similar programs that allow me to burn with soft subs and create sophisticated menus? Your input will be greatly appreciated.

None. If you want to create 'sophisitcated' menus you need to encode you video and audio seperately, then bring them into an authoring tool, along with your subs. Programs to do everything (encode and author) generally only have simple abilities.

ConvertXtoDVD can encode and do soft subs, but it only does somple text menus. You can change the font, font colour, and background image, but that is it.

Authoring tools that support subs include DVD Workshop, DVD Lab Pro, DVD Architect and GUIForDVDAuthor

thank you, guns1inger. so which among these 4 do you prefer to use? are they as almost fairly easy to use as the nero vision (from premium 7) when creating menus?

They are probably all harder use than NeroVision because NeroVision is a tool, the others are tools.

As to which is easier to use - it depends on how you like to work.

If you like to be lead by the hand, DVD Workshop. If you like to have everything at your fingertips, and to be left alone to work, DVD Lab Pro. DVD architect is somewhere in between.

FWIW, I use DVD Lab Pro. I would not touch NeroVision with a barge pole, but that is another conversation.

thank you for your input. i decided to give DVD Architect a go, and it seemed it was what i had expected. i like how it looks and its ability to create cool menus. but the guides are quite difficult to follow, unfortunately and the one on this website was written for multichapter with no menus.
