I have Windows XP using both IE and Mozilla. I cannot go to my home page for my Roadrunner hi-speed internet. When I try to, all I get is their blank blue screen. Also, when I try to look at several videos on MSN, YAHOO all I get is a blank page with a boxed X in the upper left hand corner. What is most annoying is several times during my internet browsing, the Quicktime "Q" logo comes up and them it breaks into a broken Q film strip. I tried to uninstall Quicktime and reinstall it but I got the message that if I uninstall it ..it was possible that I'd could cause other programs to malfunction. Should I just go ahead and say "Uninstall All" ?? Then reinstall the whole Quicktime program? Any help on anyof these matters will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank You...

you are probably missing a plug in. As for quicktime and real player, I would completely uninstall them and use this instead

the one I have the link posted for is for quicktime, at the same place they also have realplayer. These alternatives play everything that qt and rp play, but without all the extra bs.

P.S. I cannot even remove Quicktime from my program...it isn't there. Once in awhile when I try to download a video, I get a Quicktime logo and then it breaks like a broken filmstrip.

    Maybe these links will help..

Try Q-Time installer in Safe Mode....(I think you need to make sure you have Javascript enabled and no other Quicktime players installed)

Thanks very much your input...I've tried all three links .. First I get the broken Q film strip..then I get a banner saying "Click to run Active X on this page" I don't understand because I thought I had Active X... Nothing seems to want to download for me.

  7. ActiveX controls are like miniature programs, Web sites use them to perform a variety of actions, like downloading a file or displaying a video. There are other ways to do these tasks, as well.

ActiveX controls also represent a possible security concern, that is why YOUR firewall software on YOUR computer is warning YOU that an ActiveX program is attempting to run on YOUR machine. You must either approve or deny these individually.

You can always try System Restore and go back to a date prior to when the problems started...I hate System Restore and prefer imaging for backups. If you can't download anything it's hard to proceed. If System Restore doesn't work, you may have to reload Win XP....
