Here is another strange story I ran across ...

A TEENAGER defrauded nearly $10,000 from a disabled charity worker, who was later killed, after convincing him Microsoft chairman Bill Gates was personally making him a computer, a New South Wales court has been told.

According to police facts tendered to Orange Children's Court, in NSW's central west, the teen then allegedly planned a March 11 break-in that resulted in the death of intellectually disabled man, Michael Healy.

Mr Healy, 57, had raised $100,000 for the NRMA CareFlight helicopter through an annual Christmas lights spectacular in Orange, in which he dressed as Santa Claus.

According to the police facts, the accused – an acquaintance of Mr Healy – defrauded him of $9520 after promising in 2004 to provide him with a “super-computer” worth $71,996.

The subsequent break and enter allegedly was motivated in part by revenge, after Mr Healy reported the alleged fraud to authorities.

The accused, who is now 19 but cannot be named for legal reasons, had “in fact encouraged the victim to believe the accused had arranged 'Bill Gates to build for me' a computer”, the police facts said.

The ruse was supported by three letters the accused provided Mr Healy – two purportedly from “William Gates, Microsoft President” and the third from “Intel Corporation”.

The police statement said Mr Healy recently had retired and the accused “envisaged continuing his deception of the victim with a view of obtaining a portion of the victim's superannuation fund”.

The court documents said the teen planned to use the funds to buy a house, and allegedly told an associate: “If I lose the house, I'll kill Healy”.

The computer the accused eventually provided to Mr Healy was allegedly obtained from the local rubbish tip and was worthless.

The 19-year-old's bail was renewed on charges of concealing a serious indictable offence, aggravated break and enter with the intention to commit grievous bodily harm, and obtain money by deception.

Meanwhile, in Orange Local Court today, bail again was refused for Zethan Horan, 21, of Blayney, near Orange, and Zachary Aidan Boxx, 20, of Mudgee, both of whom are charged with murdering Mr Healy in his Wisteria Place home.

Bail was refused also for Nathanial David Charman, 21, charged with break and enter with the intent to commit grievous bodily harm, and accessary after the fact.

Conditional bail was extended for Bryony Joy Hatch, 20, who also is charged with being an accessary after the fact and concealing a serious indictable offence.

The five accused are due to reappear in Orange Local and Children's courts on November 7.

None was required to enter a plea.

There is unfortunately no limit to how low some people can sink.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

I admit I find the whole story a bit ... odd ... and therefore somewhat "enjoyable" in a quirky way.

But really. How bad do you want money as to swindle a "disabled charity worker".

At least swindle a rich egotistical ******* LOL

  4. I will agree .. you gotta be a pretty pathetic excuse for a human to extort money from a disabled person. Thats just sad.

One thing did strike me as curious ... $71,000 for a computer?

Can anyone in here build a computer for that amount (one that can fit in a regular sized computer room in a standard size home)?

I don't think even Alienware can manage a single computer at that price LOL
