    What are your favorite free apps to convert a DivX 5.0 avi to MPEG2/DVD?

    My favorite would be the old freeware divxtodvd.
    If in doubt, Google it.

    ConvertXtoDVD (DivxtoDVD's big brother), if you want a simple, no fuss solution. It's not free, but it's price is reasonable and the quality increase over DivxtoDVD is worth the money, especially if you are converting 23.976 fps source.

    However I have to agree with Mats, the simplest solution is a Divx capable player.

    It doesn't convert, it simply plays the Divx files as is. You can put 6 on a disc without the need to convert at all.
