Hello all,
I'm hoping someone here can help me with this problem:
Sony DCR-HC30 miniDV "Handycam".
In RECORD mode, the viewfinder/LCD display show solid black.
Occasionally, I can get the sensor to respond to a bright light source with some faint light smearing around on the otherwise solid black viewfinder/LCD display image.
Audio is fine.
Built-in lens cover is OPEN.
In PLAYBACK mode, everything is fine, both audio and video.
Unit is out of warrenty and we all know about the flat rate repair fee.
I've already purchased a replacement, but I'd really like to try to resurrect this unit if possible.
Regards,
-E

Take it to Sears ... if they sell it .... they can get it fixed. I've taken JVC Mini-DV cameras to them. Decent prices.
