I've run into a weird problem I've never seen before after upgrading from a geforce 5600xt to a geforce 6800. Everything else seems to work fine but when playing video in any media player the picture is messed up. It looks washed out like the brightness has been increased and the colors are weird sort of like a posterize filter has been applied. The only other difference I've noticed is, though both the monitor and the card support it, the picture looks slightly blurred when using a refresh rate of 85Hz. I've tried reinstalling the video card driver from the gigabyte website and updating to the latest version of ffdshow and media player classic but still no luck.

I had similiar problem last year, maybe similiar bug https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?p=1337363&highlight=nvidia+overlay#1337363
And try upgrade to latest nvidia drivers from www.nvidia.com instead of gigabyte. -
Yep, that was the problem. 77.72 were the lastest drivers on the gigabyte site. Thanks.

I've noticed a new problem now. When playing video black dots appear at random, like pixels going out. If I pick up and move the player around the screen or something in the video moves across that pixel they come back on but quickly show up somewhere else. It's definitely not my monitor and again it only happens in video.
