Ok this is weird and I have yet to figure it out. My standalone DVD player will play the intro's to the DL Verbatim dics I burned using Nero, but it will not actually go into the actuall footage or any of the menus. The screen just pauses and freezes. Any idea, because they work fine and are fully functional on my pc's.

Your problem is that you burned with Nero. I am NOT kidding. Nero is notorious for causing problems with DL media. You're lucky your discs will even play in a PC. I've read reports from people who burned with Nero where they wouldn't play anyway.

Please do yourself a big favor and burn using PgcEdit to make ISOs and then burn with ImgBurn. You should take a look at
    http://www.digital-digest.com/~blutach/pgcedit_guide/burning_with_pgcedit/burning_with...pgcedit_v2.htm
and scroll down to the bottom to the section called "Technical Information Regarding 32K Gaps" to understand why burning with Nero can be a bad idea, although this isn't really related to the DL problem you have. It's just another problem that Nero has. You don't say if you are using +R or -R DL discs, but you really should avoid -R DL if you can. Nero is reported to still not burn these correctly (it doesn't set the layer break correctly) and the -R DL format is kind of bogus anyway. To get it to work, they had to do some nasty stuff with the layer breaks and it's just a big pain to deal with this format.

I had the same problem until I got a standalone player that could actually play DL disks I burned. Not all players can.
