I am attempting to create chapters using GUI for dvdauthor. I used VideoReDo to create a clip. I imported that saved clip into GUI for dvdauthor. It said it was good (mpg2, mux OK, etc.)

When saving with VideoReDo, you can have VRD create a chapter list (HH:MM:SS). I imported this chapter list into GUI for dvdauthor. It accepted it (times were correct, etc.) I hit "Create DVD". When it was finished, I used Media Player Classic to view it (.vob in the VIDEO_TS folder). No chapters! Tried to view it with Nero Showtime, too. No chapters.

I have been troubleshooting this for days, now. I found that even if I DON'T use the VRD generated chapter list, but instead let GUI for dvdauthor AUTOcreate it's own chapters (based on # of chapters desired and/or time increments--tried both) there are also NO chapters created, either. So my guess is it is not VideoReDo. But what is it? Do I have a setting incorrect? Does it not create them until the "burn" process?

Can someone help a fella' out?

  2. Can you send me the log file? Normally there are no problems with chapters... only frame exact positioning with NTSC material is sometimes tricky, but no chapters at all?

    Correct.

A little background info: The original file was a .vob from a stand-alone LiteOn DVD recorder. I used VideoReDo to edit out the commercials. The probelm I ran into was that once I had saved it "correctly" it was an mpg1. VideoReDo informed me that "Apparently LiteOn creates MPEG1 video in an MPEG2 program stream."

Back to the drawing board. I took a .vob I KNEW was mpg2, cut some scenes with VRD and re-saved it (as mpg2). Per my options settings, VRD created a Chapter File.txt. That is what I imported into GFD. When that failed, I tried both forms of the AUTOchapter options (time/# of chapters) and got the same result. (Funny thing is, after it is authored, you can look at the bottom left and under "Film1" and see the chapters listed!)

Now when I say "no chapters", I mean that once authored, I cannot use the back/next chapter buttons (double arrow with the line) on any of the viewers I use to preview it before burning. It is just one continuous video with no breaks. I went ahead and burned a disc to see what happened, and sure enough... one single file with no breaks.

  4. Ok, I believe you...
But without any 'material' I cannot check what's wrong. You can find my email addy in the log file (can be found in the output folder). Please send me this log file and the saved project file (.gfd file), then I will try to find out what's going wrong here.
