    Hello,

Right now I'm ripping with DVD Decryptor and creating my AVI's with avi.net but even if I force the bitrate on avi.net it doesn't get higher then 2260 kbps. What do I use to get a bitrate of 4000 kbps or 8000 kbps in the AVI?

    Thanks,

    Dirk

Virtualdubmpeg2 or virtualdubmod. I suspect that the bitrate is limited in order to keep the size under 2gb, which is a limit for most Divx certified players. I also suspect you will see little quality difference, if any, between 4000 and 8000 kbps for xvid or Divx.

  3. Hi-

Often you can't. The term for that is "saturating the codec". You've already gotten the best quality given your settings. It already looks pretty good, doesn't it? To increase the size you can raise the resolution, use a higher bitrate quantization matrix (if XviD), use an unrestricted profile, not use B-Frames, use higher bitrate or better quality audio (AC3 instead of MP3, for example), not use filters, if you're filtering it. I'm not necessarily recomending you do any or all of those things, but if you want to use a higher bitrate, try the Six-Of-Nine matrix for XviD.

What's the Six-Of-Nine matrix for XviD?

  5. You can find it in this collection of matrices:

Use it for XviD and Single Pass Quant 1, and you might even get close to your 8000 bitrate. Don't expect to play it on a standalone, though.
