I read in some place that to join two half movies in one, the parts must have the same bitrate. But I think if the first part has a lesser bitrate than the second part, it happens that the first part has a lower quality than the second and in the practice it has little significance. Is it so?
Thanks and cheers.

It has nothing to do with quality, but that if you want to seamlessly join 2 things, they must be identical - A 2" pipe can't be welded seamlessly to a 3" pipe.
It's more than bitrate that must be the same - frame size, audio codec & bitrate... That said, AviDemux is better for joining AVIs.
OTOH, why join at all? In most circumstances, it's better NOT to join. What's your reason for joining?

Hello, Mats.Hogberg
The reason of joining the two parts in one ( in this case three parts ) is the following - The movie is a musical movie and from the first to the second and from the second to the third, the cuts were exactly in the middle of two songs !!!! Intelligence of certain people, donīt you think?
Thank you. Cheers. -
The files were probably divided evenly by the software. File sizes are set at 700MB because that is what fits on a CD. Most Divx certified standalone players will play back the parts seemlessly as will media players on the PC if you place the files into a play list.
