Hi
I have a Pioneer DVR-530 H-S DVD hard disk recorder. I've had it for about a
year (just out of warranty) and it is now temperamental with the Gemstar
Guideplus EPG recordings and saving the title of the recording.
Guideplus still works with showing the programme guide, but what fails to
happen everytime now is that the title is not taken from the guide, it just
leaves a blank title. And I really want it to save the title, it's a pain to
enter manually, particularly as the EPG has been downloaded with the info.
I also noticed that when this happens, after I use the Guide and hit the red
button to record a show, then go to the Schedule, it shows the recording listed
but instead of the title, it shows the channel logo.
The fact it shows the channel logo rather than the title in the schedule,
makes me think it is designed to do this and maybe I have changed some
setting. However I can sometimes switch on the Pioneer and it will work as
expected and save the title with the recording, other times and more often
than not now, it doesn't.
I have defraged the hard disk and entered in my postcode again to refresh
Guideplus, but it's still not working properly. I've searched the forum and
can not find anything like this mentioned before, but hoping someone knows what
is going on!
thanks
Richard

I've since found out that entering titles manually before the recording starts in the Schedule doesn't work either.
It lets me enter the title, then briefly shows it in the Schedule, but flicking from one recording to the next, the title disappears to be replaced by the tv channel logo. Very annoying.
I can now only label recordings after they have been recorded. Any ideas how to fix?
Cheers

Hi
What firmware version do you have? -
Unplugging from wall for a few minutes resets dvdrecorders, computers, tvs, etc. You could try that.
Also consider that it's not your machine but the guide data is not coming in & this usually self corrects when they straighten it out. -

You sent me the latest firmware, but I'm nervous trying this unless a last resort.
Also, is there an md5sum checksum on the Nero image so I can verify all okay? I'm using Linux and will need to convert the Nero image to iso, but for peace of mind, do you have md5sum to double check before I use it?
thank you

Shoot, it's now happening to me & I have a Panasonic. Therefore its their new guideplus software update I bet. Happened before with another update they did.
Therefore, not your machine. Shoot, I hope they get back to their old guide plus software.
Did you notice in the data field that they show if a show is a repeat or not now? So they have changed their software.
To correct it, just unplug your machine for a minute & plug back in.
