Supposedly they sent the emails with a pink background, like a pink slip.
The sad part is that if any of those employees use Radio Shack computers than they probably never even got their email. -
On one hand, my first reaction is "wow, how insentitive and harsh." On the other hand, when one gets fired, does it really matter how they tell you? At the end of the day, you're still fired.
I wonder how long it takes before one of the fired employees copies the termination notice and emails it out to other non-fired employees they don't like, making them think they've been laid off when they haven't been...Join the fight against Product Activation & DRM!

Just my opinion, but RS's big mistake was trying to compete with the big box electronic retailers. I liked the company when I could pick up discrete electronic parts to build a project. Then they got commercial and started to push TVs, stereo equipment and the like. The electronics components inventory at my local store has dwindled to a few drawers of parts. I think they got too far away from what the company was created for in the first place, to supply the electronic hobbyist.
To be fair, our only other local electronics supplier is no longer open on weekends and most of the sales there are bulk cable and commercial sales that barely keep them alive. I expect them to close in the next year also.
It's a fact of life these days that internet companies can give you a better selection and usually cheaper. Tough on local stores, but that's life.
As far as RS's practice of sending final termination notices by email, if that was the only notification, that's unforgivable in my opinion. -
Yeah as far as I'm concerned, the only thing Radio Shack was ever good for was case screws, wires, batteries, etc...
There are advertisments in my area that say that Radio Shack is the nation's largest seller of celluar products. Does anyone else find that hard to believe? -
Radio Shack will soon be with Lafayette Radio. Anybody remember them?

I used to order a lot of stuff from Lafayette Radio. Allied was another similar company around about the same time. Nice big catalogs. For electronic components, I use Jameco now. http://www.jameco.com
Radio Shack still has some stuff online. -
budz, this is not news as defined by the sticky. Moving to Offtopic.
