    Can rm files be converted to divx or xvid with a freeware program? If so, which one? I can watch them with the free RealPlayer substitute, and they are entirely local.

    I have some TV Show episodes I want to put on a DVD. For some reason it came in a smattering of formats, which included rm.

    Unless your DVD player can handle XviD/DivX video there's no reason to convert to either. If you don't have an MPEG-4 enabled player you're going to have to convert to mpeg-1or 2.
