okay, i want a lcd hdtv for watching tv, playing my xbox 360, and also for using as a computer screen (what kinda input is required for this...i have a dell dimension 9100 pc...is it just a s-video input or do i need dvi?)...my budget is around $2000, i want a 37"-42" screen, needs to be widescreen & black if possible, and i defintely want it to support 720p and 1080i so my xbox 360 will look good on it...please help me find what im looking for because im going to purchase this in the near future...thx
peace

I would get a 40" Sony BRAVIA S2000. On sale for $2375 at Best Buy. If you want to get it online, you can of course get it cheaper. I much prefer the BRAVIA over the Samsung LN-S series because Samsung over enhances their image(note their insanely high dynamic contrast ratios) to the point where it hurts the image. Sony also enhances their image, but they limit it to much more reasonable levels wehre the image is not compromised.

i was lookin at those earlier...do u know if that setup would run as a computer monitor on my pc also?

In the $2000 range you have several technologies: LCD or Plasma Flat screen, rear projection or front projection.
Assuming you want a flat screen look for something like this.
37-42" LCD TV with analog and digital ATSC tuner. 1366x768 or better native resolution
"Computer connection" explicitly supported at specified 1366x768 WXGA VESA resolutions with VGA or DVI-D connection (typ).
YPbPr connection (720p best) for XBox
YPbPr and/or HDMI connector for DVD player
YPbPr and/or HDMI connector for cable or satellite box (if used)
This would be typical. If the LCD resolution is higher, make sure the computer connection spec follows the same resolution. -
The Sony KDL-40S2000 fills the bill except it doesn't have a digital tuner. All sets over 25" are now required to have one although old stock can be sold. Look for the new model.

1 x HDMI (for future external ATSC tuner or future HD DVD Player or cable/sat box)
1 x VGA (for computer)
2 x HD analog component inputs (X-Box and DVD Player)
As you can see above, an extra HDMI and an extra analog componet input would be nice for future expansion. -
my graphics card is a radeon x600 256mb hypermemory if that will tell u anything... and its on a dell dimension 9100 pc...u seriously lost me bro with that ypbpr stuff lol

ypbpr stuff
Component video. 3 video connectors (RCA).
HDMI - one cable connection carrying video and audio.Whatever doesn't kill me, merely ticks me off. (Never again a Sony consumer.) -

At the HDTV use the red green and blue and set 720p in the menus.

If you go to http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdisplay.php?f=40
and search by xbox360 lcd
I know from having read the thread on the 32" Westinghouse I bought that a lot of people are using it mainly for Xbox360
Offical Westinghouse LTV-27w7, LTV-32w6, & LTV-37w2 thread
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=678671&highlight=Westinghouse
20 pages worth right now.
However I like it. I have it hooked up to VGA and am using it as my computer display right now @1360 BY 768. HD Satellite Via HDMI, DVD Recorder via Component and a Phillips 5960 Ultra Divx player via Component and other equipment via S-Video.
I bought it on Sale and I choose it for being the largest I could get into the car and a LCD for the same reason as well as the weight of a Picture Tube HDTV being more than I could manage. Plus I'm only sitting 4 or 5 feet away right now. Once I'm past the return period and into the warranty period It'll go where the old Tv was about a foot/foot and a half further away.
Hope this helps

Every seen a regular monitor that had RGB BNC connectors on the back? Component is similar although not quite the same as the BNC set had 4 or 5 BNCs. Component does not carry audio so I also use a red/white audio cable for sound. HDMI does carry sound as well as video in one cable. I believe you can get 3 wire component or 5 wire component cables eliminating the need for separate audio cables.
