Just purchased a Samsung dvd recorder/VCR combo unit and tried copying a VHS tape to DVD and it starts recording for about 10 seconds and then stops and displays a message saying thr video is copyrighted. Just wondering if there was a way to somehow turn this off. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

I know of no combo recorder that will record CP material from VCR to DISK Or turn the CP off
If anyone knows of such a unit please post it -
You can look in the Hacks section, but, otherwise, you cannot turn off Macrovision recognition. Assuming you are trying to copy a home-made tape, and not a commercial movie (and DVD recorders frequently mistake home-made tapes for copy-protected ones) you have an option: If you have outputs in the back from the VHS and inputs for the DVD recorder, you can connect a Time-Base Corrector (TBC) like a DataVideo unit, or a "clarifier" between the VHS video jack and the video input to the DVD recorder. Frankly, TBCs and clarifiers are a good idea anyway when transferring VHS to DVD.

Get rid of the Combo Unit and add a filter to the new recorder.
