Try to make sure you have the latest version of vdubmod. Other than that I don't know. Try a different editor.

  3. Missing a codec, maybe? Try the Panasonic DV Codec.

What's your input format? If it's DV, VirtualDub or VDM are among the best editors for that format. I'm not sure what Xvid has to do with it. As mentioned, DV needs a DV codec like the Panasonic DV Codec for VD(M) to accept it.

Of course you also need a Firewire card in your computer and a transfer program like WinDV to get it from the camera to the computer, along with a FW cable. Once you have it on your computer hard drive, VirtualDub Mod and the Panasonic Codec should get you going.

A further step that I use after editing in VDM is to save out the audio as a WAV and convert it to AC3 with ffmpeggui. You can then frameserve the edited video only from VDM to a MPEG encoder like TMPGEnc encoder and then encode it to DVD compliant MPEG-2 video. I then put both the MPEG-2 video and the AC3 audio into a authoring program like TDA and burn.

There are a lot of other ways to do this. To edit DV in VDM, you only need a DV codec. If you want to convert the DV to Xvid, then you can do that through VDM. You need the Xvid codec and I would suggest the Lame MP3 codec for the audio.

A easier method with somewhat lower quality, but quick and easy to use is ConvertXToDVD or the freeware XvidToDVD to convert the DV to a DVD format.
