  1. Hi, I need to insert in a video a clip showing the whole earth from the space and slowly going to a precise point of it (from outer space to Rome for instance). I tried capturing a Google Earth clip of few seconds using AviScreen classic and edit with Premiere Pro, but the movement from frame to frame are "jumping" with a very poor result. Is there anybody who can give me a better suggestion to obtain a smooth clip?
    Thank you

    Hi dylanthomas,

Refer to my "Tips for capturing from Google Earth" post:

With more experience, I'd also add the following to the that:

    1) Google Earth can display using either OpenGL or DirectX - set it to the one that gives best results for you.

    2) Do a number of run through's before capturing - I find that this results in a smoother rendering of the pictures, and the blurriness as you zoom in is invariably removed.

    3) Don't have the movement around the globe and zooming in too fast - give the images a chance to appear. You can always speed them up in Premiere Pro.

    4) Point 3 is also a function of your PC: fast processor, memory, a decent graphics card with onboard and sufficient memory.

That's about it that I can think of. Of course, my post mentions Fraps - I've not used AVIScreen Classic so I don't know if it's any good or how it works.
There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.

    Carpe diem.

If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much room.

You might also look into WorldWind from NASA. IIRC it can render motion as a series of stills that can be later converted to an AVI.

  7. I use Google Earth, run a couple of times through the sequence, and capture with Fraps. Fraps is very cool.
