Hi-
I use SubStation Alpha to create subtitles in SSA format. You can even synch them to the audio by making an 8-bit WAV file and then using it within the program. -
Subtitle Workshop.
All instructions on "How to do it" are included in the help file, so you do not need any other tutorial.
Relatively easy to create a subtitle.
When a subtitle is completed, you could convert into any format that your DVD authoring software supports. -
When working on the subtitle workshop to make a subtitle in a avi that has no subtitle can i look at the film wile doing the subtitle trough the program? I could not open the video file with the program for me to listen and translating wile wrinting the subtitle in the subtitle workshop.

But now... Probably a newbie thing again... But im woking with subtitle workshop and i am tring to sync the subtitles i created with the video and when i play the video just the first subtitle appears. I donīt know if it is something about setting the start and the end.... Well all that i know is that i wrote then i used the video to set the sync and now when i play i only visualise the first sub. I think is a newbie error, but i donīt know what to do.
Can u help me? -
I can not figure out what your problem is, but every possible solution is in the help file of Subtitle Workshop, so read carefuly and I'm sure that you will find all answers.

A new problem has come up (the other one fixed itself as i closed and open the program).
The problem is this:
I write a subtitle and set the time with show and hide on th subtitle workshop. Bu when i play the video at media player when there is a gap it doesīt appear nothing (as i want to) it keeps appering the last subtitle, even thou i put the hide time (in other words, the subtitle is not doing the hide time it is showing until the foward subtitle appears)
Does anyone know how to solve this? -
I still couldnīt fix the problem described above. does no one knows how to fix or what could causing the problem?
Thanks -
okay... i have 2 question here... FYI right now i'm using VirtualDubMod and Subtitle Workshop to convert from softsub subtitle files to hardsub subtitle files.
1) I try to edit the font in the .srt files to the colour version (for special purpose) but when i'm try to save it into .ssa files it seem not working. same thing happen when i try to edit the font of .ssa files to colour version... any program that can support the version???
2) how to make the subtiltle appear above and bottom of the video at the same time???
(to show the meaning of word, etc)
thank you.
