Encoding uses 95% of CPU

Just a quick question, is it typical that ffmpegx use about 95% of my CPU during encoding? Im using a Mac G4 single 1.24 Ghz 2 Gig RAM machine. Thank you.

I don't use ffmpegx, but I would assume this is normal. I use Vegas 6 on a dual core 4400+, and both cores are usually at about 90% - 99% during an encode. It makes sense that the software would take full advantage of your CPU power to speed up encoding times.
