abcpartXX.rar vs abc.rxx difference?

continuing my studies of PARs and RARs Ive notived that some rar are as above in the title:

blahblahpartXX.rar and then blahblah.rxx

MacPardelux handles both but the second seems to need a click on the blahblah.rar after the pars check the .rXX

why is that?

[Case]

For segmented RAR archives, there is an old naming scheme and a new one. The old one is: foo.rar (*), foo.r00, foo.r01, foo.r02, foo.r03, etc.. The newer one is: foo.part01.rar, foo.part02.rar, foo.part03.rar, foo.part04.rar, etc. Most unrar tools handle both.
(*) While foo.rar is the last in an alphabetical listing, it is in fact the first segment.
You open/unrar segmented RAR archives by opening the first segment: foo.rar or foo.part01.rar respectively. Then the unrar tool can find the other parts by itself. At least that's how it should be...

its interesting to note that macPar delux manages both, but on the .rxxx it just seems to check and repair the .r and not extract them or what ever yuu call the second move

you get the final product by clicking the .r
