  1. In dvd2svcd or every other all in one program i have, when i use cbr to encode an xvid to dvd, the output filesize is right on target. when i use any multipass to encode the same xvid, the output filesize is about half or 2 gigs. I looked at all the forums and i cannot find a similar post. Any help?

Usually the main reason is that the quality of the average Xvid, especially from the net, is not that great to start with. That's why they often end up coming out to about a 2GB MPEG file from a 700MB Xvid of a full length video.

You can make as many passes as you like, but it's just a waste of time as the quality won't get any better. If you have a higher quality source, like a 2GB Xvid, then multiple passes might help the quality. With encoders like CCE, going from a DVD to a SVCD will benefit from multiple passes, though.
