...but don't try putting all 21 videos (~10 hours) on one disc - 2 hours max/DVD is my recommendation. In VCD quality, you can squeeze 6-7 hours on a single layer disc, but VCD quality is not what you expect from a DVD.

25 minutes in 120 mb is pretty squeezed. What resolution are they ? VCD might be the better option simply to cater for the likely low resolution

I'm surprised at such a low bitrate for that resolution. I'd have to agree with Mats on the running time. Perhaps with DivxtoDVD (the freeware version) you might get 6 to a disc, because of the way the encoder in that version works. But don't expect DVD or even near DVD quality from the exercise.

If you had a Divx certified player you could put all of them on one disc and be done with.

  6. i dont mind spreading them out on to multiple DVD's
if that would improve the quality?

how many per dvd would you think would be good quality?

Generally, using 3-4 times the XviD bitrate when reencoding to DVD specs mpg does the source full justice. That would suggest 1500-1600 kbps, but I wouldn't go lower than twice that for full DVD res - ideally 5, no more than 6 episodes/single layer DVD IMO.

Since the lowish quality of the original files, I would use TMPGEnc Xpress to convert them to Mpeg-2 and DVDLab to author them on 2 or 3 DVDs.

  10. with dvd lab do u manually have to set the chapters?
or can they be done automatically?

Since the source files doesn't contain any chapter info, it has to be done with the authoring app, no matter what authoring app you use. DVD-Lab has some excellent features for this. Read on here.

    In DLP you can either

    - Set chapter manually using the time line
    - set chapter automatically using scene detection
    - set chapters automatically using time intervals

I would consider DivxtoDVD as another alternative, although you would not get menus. It will put 6 to a disc, and TDA can then import these so you can create a menu and add chapters. Might be simpler than DLP.
