    Hello everone
I'm looking into getting digital local channels and I've checked out a few different units. (probrand and so on) What i'm looking for is a unit that has a timer function so the unit will come on and switch to a channel at a specific time and date so my dvd copier can record (switch on and off and change the channels a couple of times a day. different channels and programs). I was told probrand won't do this and I was thinking about maybe a dishnetwork or directtv unit.
    Anybody have any ideas?
    Thank You

  2. The best solution is to get a DVR unit from whatever service you plan to sign up for and make sure it has a 1394 / FireWire output. You can record whatever programs you want, often two at the same time then manually offload them to your DVD Recorder through the FireWire cable.

VCR Plus+ was a device that worked with your VCR and would change the channel on your cable box for you, but I have no idea if this works for DVD Recorders.
