I am looking for a little confirmation to what I have read in the forums. In general, this is what I understand concering conversions from Real Media to Quciktime:

1) Direct conversions from Real Media (.rm) to a Quicktime wrapped movie (.mov) are not supported using Mac OS X.
2) Real Media conversions to an intermediate can be done (say to an .avi). Then the .avi can be converted to Quicktime. This process requires the reallib folder be placed in the ffmpex application support folder. A successful installation can be tested by attempting to play the Real Media content from the ffmegx gui.
3) Real Media conversion requires the use of mencoder, which currently does not support transcoding to or wrapping in Quicktime (.mov).

I'm new at this, and would appreciate any correction.
With all the work that major and the ffmepgx team have contributed, I doubt that there is another application that will perform the conversions directly. As an alternative, does anyone know of a utility that would automate the intermediate process so that it would become transparent to a user?

Thanks!
