Please excuse the newbie question, but I've been seeing this word alot and have no idea what it is and if it's something I need to be learning more about.
What is this format and why would you want to put it to vcd.

divx is a hacked microsoft codec that uses the avi format... it offers good quality to very small file sizes... its main problem is that it is not standardized at all... like no standard bitrate, resolution, ect... this is the format usually used for downloadable movies via kazaa/morpheous... most people will convert these to vcd so they can play them on their standalone players.
