    Hi, how would I go about finding my firmware version. I have a LiteOn LVW 5118GHC+ unit. I have been to LiteOn's web site and can not seem to find out how.

    I think electrodad has a standalone dvd recorder so dvdinfo pro wouldn't help.

    electrodad you may want to email liteon about finding out what firmware is on your recorder. I looked at the liteonit website but did not find your model number.

    True - makes it difficult. Often the firmware is found in the service menu. Usually this is found by using one of the region free hacks listed in the DVD Hacks section. Although yours isn't there, there are a few with similar model numders, and the hacks all seem to be very similar as well. Might be worth trying some of them to see if you can get in.
