  1. Hi!
First thanks for a great app!
Second I have a small problem. I have some Real files that I need converted for editing in Final Cut. I can convert them using the "mencoder" to for instance DivX. But I would prefer avoiding one conversion step by converting them directly to DV using "ffmpeg".

Trying to convert using the standard presets (size 720x576, divisible by 16) results in a "finished" message and a 0kb file
    The info message says:

Encoding started on Mon Jul 17 20:44:27 CEST 2006
    Input #0, rm, from '/Filmprojekt/pk060702_broad.rm':
    Duration: 00:17:05.0, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 377 kb/s
    Stream #0.0: Video: RV40, 360x288, 12.00 fps, 334 kb/s
    Stream #0.1: Audio: 0x0000, 32 kb/s
    Can't resample. Aborting.
Resampling with input channels greater than 2 unsupported.Abort at ffmpeg.c:1567

After reading through some posts here I thought it might be caused by some erroneus audio settings. Therefore I turned encoding Audio off completely.

It resulted in a "Failed" with the info window saying

Encoding started on Mon Jul 17 20:44:44 CEST 2006
    Input #0, rm, from '/Filmprojekt/pk060702_broad.rm':
    Duration: 00:17:05.0, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 377 kb/s
    Stream #0.0: Video: RV40, 360x288, 12.00 fps, 334 kb/s
    Stream #0.1: Audio: 0x0000, 32 kb/s
    Output #0, dv, to '/Filmprojekt/Konverterat/PK.dv':
    Stream #0.0: Video: dvvideo, 720x576, 25.00 fps, q=2-15, 25000 kb/s
    Stream mapping:
    Stream #0.0 -> #0.0
Unsupported codec (id=71) for input stream #0.0

I have tried different input files in different formats, but it seams like the conversion into DV just does not want to work.
I have also tried different output formats and I noticed that almost no format using "ffmpeg" worked while the "mencoder" almost always worked flawlessly.

Reading through older forum posts has sadly not helped me much.
Any clew how to solve this problem?

    Regards, Carl

  2. ffmpeg cannot decode RV40 files.

  3. Ok, that solves it, thanks for the quick answer
