  1. I'm authoring a home dvd and was wanting to do a motion menu for the main menu. I'm using the Ulead Trial. It has two little motion menus available to use. They're kinda cool but don't really go with what i'm trying to do. Is there some place I can download more of these? I know they are just mpg files, but I don't know how to make my own. Is there somewhere that has pre-made videos/menus that I can use? I was thinking screensavers might work, but I don't think screensavers are in mpg format.

    Thanks!

I don't know of any sites that provide motion menus for free. There are quite a few that sell menu templates, both still and motion, but for the most part I find these tacky and samey.

Sony Multimedia (sellers of Vegas) and Mainconcept both have a selection of free motion backgrounds. They are abstract patterns that repeat (loop), and could be used for motion menus. But there is nothing I have seen that has full menus with frames etc.

That said, it isn't that hard to make motion menus. Any editing software can do it.

Both Video Studio and Movie Maker can output video files. Instead of creating a disc create a file. There may be some limitations as to what you can use and since it's atrial it may be limited too. Look in the manual for more inforamtion.

Give these a try , they cost you nothing but the time it take's .

Dvdauthorgui has motion script included ... handy ... if you know something of the routine's used , it is highly editable .
    (require's avisynth and plugin's)

Wax2 is also capable ... many possibilities ... but save project's often as it is proned to crashing .
(project's can be saved , and modified later for different video clip's)

Avisynth + png with alpha layer (the gimp) ... simple mask method .
(scripts and graphic's (png's with alpha layer mask) saved for later project's)

Blender ... capable of mapping video to 3d object's ... not for the newbie unless plenty of time available .
(project's can be saved so mapped video change's can be made later for other project's)

You can try to make your own motion menus with any NLE Non Linear Video Editor.
