    Hello,
    I've got a new imac and the screen in all applications, has opaque/transparent vertical stripes and a few spots appearing and then vanishing randomly. I'm affraid to start a new project in case this is a sign of something more sinister ... should I send it back? Has anyone seen this before?

    Call Apple Tech Support (if you have a place to call there in Oz). You have 90 days tech support from Apple, 3 years if you bought AppleCare coverage. You -did- buy AppleCare, right?

    I saw that happen on a PC once, the video card was basically melting itself.
