Hi there i have a vhs/dvd recorder combi (Bush DVRHS02)and have been backing up my old vhs tapes to dvd.......... no problems till now. It fails and says "copy protection" I havent come across this before, i understand it may be macrovision is there any way to get past this? Is the multi region handset hack any good for this? This is annoying as its my own tape. Any ideas on what i can do? PMs welcomed.

more info.......... forgot to mention that i was able to copy this to a blank video and even using the balnk video copy brought up the same error lol

  2. It is saying it had deteted "MacroVision" copy protection signal on that tape, implied that's a store bough movie tape. So It stop recording by the law.

My Hauppauge PVR-250 capture card doesn't see the Macrovision signal, so no problems. You might see if you can find one.

Is MacroVision on all VHS tapes pre-recordered or on only the newer ones? I'm thinking of buying this combi so I can copy some tapes to DVD (I only have about 4).

For the most part it's on all commercial tapes, I'm sure there are some without it though. As far as the stabilizer get a TBC if your going to be doing a lot of them and have the cash.

  10. You need a VCR,macrovision remover(ie. Sima)and DVD recorder/PC capturecard,It would be cheaper to buy them on DVD.
FYI:all VHS movies after 1994 have Macrovision.
