I have a few mpegs and vobs I'd like to deinterlace. The only method I knew was to use the deinterlace filter in Virtualdub, and then frameserve to tmpgenc. The video looked fine, but it was badly out of sync with the audio (demuxed from the original mpeg). Is there another method I can use to deinterlace an mpeg file?

why do you want to de-interlace it ? if it was film source, remove the pulldown is all ..

if it was interlaced source material - leave it interlaced ....

re-encoding it - for the sake of de-interlacing is just killing quality ..

Try the Smart Deinterlacer for VirtualDub. http://neuron2.net/smart/smart.html

I'm not sure why you would want to deinterlace for MPEG use, but, whatever.

It's an mpeg extracted from a Tivo that needs to be deinterlaced before it can be served to other Tivos in the house. Long story, but yes, it needs to be deinterlaced. I'll give the smart deinterlace filter a try. Thanks...
