it has been $499 for apple for over a year ...

but the linux and pc version was still 3000 grand (and now no support or updates for pc anyway) ....

the linux version is available as a render lic only for render farms ... still cheaper to buy a apple render only lic though ...

apple pissed off a lot of PC users who had 100's of thousands in render farms and seats in shake -- as they also did with RAY , Chalice, Spruce Maestro, and several other products which dont run as well or fast on a mac (like maya) ....

well we bought it for that quite a while ago - must of been the number of lic 's .. here are the other prices anyway , i was off on those also ... unless these prices have been reduced - it makes your blood boil ...

Shake 4 for Linux retails for $4999. Render-only Linux version retails for $1499.

  5. It's also the last version of Shake. Apple has notified users that a "new generation of Shake" is in the works—perhaps with a new name as well, otherwise why not call it an upgrade?

that's a bad sign, the same thing happened to Live Picture and that application ended up being mothballed...

  7. Apple has a lot of serious "Hollywood" use of Shake, so I doubt they want to give up that market. I suspect they will introduce another really expensive application aimed at the high end professionals who sit in dark rooms all day staring at footage of the brightly lit world.

That's a lot of money for a small piece of software. I can buy a very nice house, even in Southern California where we now pay about $1 mill for a small condo, for that price.

    Let me just re-quoute BJ_M: "3000 grand". 3000 grand is $3 million.
