    Hi,
I have created a project in Premiere Pro 7.0. I have rendered the final project before exporting Movie/Microsoft DV AVI. I then import the file into Encore 2.0 for authoring. The problem is that the preview of the movie plays fine in the monitor timeline window. When it is finally burned to DVD though, the final result is when someone moves in the video, it is jerky movements. I can't figure out what is going on. I took the raw source material and used another video editor (Pinnacle 10.5) and the project turned out fine? Any thoughts? Thank you, Michael

This is because of an interlacing issue. Try researching on this forum (progressive and interlaced).

Field dominance of a clip, when applied wrongly on the timeline, it wont show, simply coz the pc monitor will display it as progressive. BUT, When u try watching it on a pal or ntsc set, u will see the jerkiness for sure. If ur using premiere, try right clicking the clip on the timeline --> field options --> (check) reverse field dominance. Render and export --> author and view.

this should solve ur issue right now, but u have to research it so it wont happen again.

    Good luck,

It's hard to see anything in that tiny preview window. I've had footage look good in preview, only to find out I forgot to change my framerate setting. The preview only works well if you use it fullscreen on a second monitor.

Anyway, my point was the jerkiness only really has two causes: interlace or framerate. Plus "jerky" is an pretty open description.

I reversed "field dominace" by right clicking on the clip as suggested. It worked. Now to keep it from happening again. What settings could I make initially with my project to keep it from happining again? Thanks for the help guys! Michael

u gotta research the subject to fully understand what's going on and what to choose.

but as a general rule (dont know if i'll be crucified for confirming it):

dv material are almost always lower field.

keep in mind this is for tv viewing. If ur planning on doing clips for pc only, u can choose the no field dominance i.e. (non-interlaced a.k.a progressive)

I cant stress enough that u should read about it so ud know what fields are to start with.

here u can start from this link:
