    i have some dvd i want to rip to my mac and and reburn them useing idvd but i want to skip encoding the movie so it will go faster when burning. meaning when i rip the dvd what is the same exact file format idvd is encoding the file to? like mp4, vob, avi ect.

    Read throug "What is... DVD" linked at the top left of this page. You'll see the video DVD format is MPEG 2. iDVD cannot accept a MPEG 2 file, though. You could use the ripped video with Toast, however.
