    Hi all:

I'm having the following problem when converting an AVI to DVD using AVI2DVD:

I tested subs with BsPlayer and they are 100% synchronized with audio and video.

After convertion I checked the vob files and everything is ok except the subtitles that are completely desynchronized.

What can be the problem ?? I think the problem is on the subtitles file , but how can I fix it ??

They work great before the convertion !! that's what i find rather strange.!!

    Is there any solution ??

  2. Hi-

One way that they might get out of synch would be if the AVI is from an NTSC source (23.976fps) and you're making a PAL DVD (25fps). And if the subs are in synch with the original AVI and the software doesn't also convert the timing of the subs, then that might account for it. I don't use AVI2DVD so I don't know how it handles the problem. One symptom you'd see if that's right would be that the subs start off OK in the DVD, and get later and later as the movie progresses. They would lag the audio more and more as the movie progresses.

If that is the problem, the solution would be to convert the subs before you start. If that's not the problem, then I have no idea and maybe someone else can help.

Ok I managed to make it right.

This can be helpfull for others.

As you probably know AVI2DVD has 4 different encoders: QuEnc , FreeEnc NuEnc and HcEnc.

I normally useFreeEnc, because it's faster , this time tried them all and it only worked with HcEnc.

HcEnc gives a better quality, but of course the final result is a bigger file.

    Subtitles are synchronized now.

Let me tell you that before making the convertion I used AVI-Mux_GUI to correct entire movie file.

There is no reason for HCEnc to create a bigger file, depending on how the encoding is done. If the encoding is CBR, or 2-pass VBR, then the file sizes should be very close regardless of encoder. Size and quality, while correlated, aren't related in the way you have intimated here.
