  1. So I was in the process of backing up a couple of new movies I purchased and when I got to the second disk I received the following error:

    Burn Process Failed at 6.1x (8,418 kbs)

    1:30:10 DVD-Video files reallocation started
    1:30:10 DVD-Video files reallocation completed (no file modified)
    1:30:10 DVD-Video files sorted
    1:30:10 Caching of files started
    1:30:10 Caching of files completed
    1:30:10 Burn Process Started at 6.1x (8,418 kbs)
    1:30:10 _NEC DVD_RW ND-3500AG Illegal Disk
    1:30:10 _NEC DVD_RW ND-3500AG Could not perform start-at-once
    1:30:10 Burn Process Failed at 6.1x (8,418 kbs)

    Anyone here familiar with this kind of error?

    Quite familiar.

    It's called bad media. You may go through several spindles of the same media without error until you try the one(s) that is/are bad.

  3. wow, never had that problem before and I've burned probably close to a 1000 disks. I wonder if Best Buy will exchange my bad spindle for a new one

    edit: looks like you're dead on, I found an old disk I never use before and tried using that one with no problems
