  1. I've got a question for those with much more experience than me out there. I'm running a video system for a high school now and we've got two remote cameras, but we're looking to add a few mini-dv or digital8 cameras to include multiple angles.

Since we're going to feed these signals into a mixer and go "live" with it I need some cameras that will allow you to turn "off" the on screen display when you are sending the live video out to the mixer. So far all of the ones I'm found will NOT allow you to turn off the display on live video.

Does anyone have any models you can recommend? We need to get out as cheaply as possible and still accomplish that goal.

My panasonic quite happily sends out live video without the the overlay, at least via firewire. Haven't tried it throughs-video or RCA in a while, so I can't remember if it did or didn't. Usually it's a setting in the menu somewhere.

none of the displayed info on the lcd screen shows up on the a/v output of any of the sony dv cams i've used down to the hc-21. it's strictly user info only. not on the tape or any ouput.

  4. thanks for the input... can some of you please give some more specific model #'s that you KNOW do this via the A/V cable in the price range of the HC-21 ? We don't need top of the line, just something reasonable because we really need to pick up at least 2.
