Hi everyone!
I wondered if there's any way to get rid of the on-screen symbols on the Philips BDP3000 blu-ray/DVD player? I.e. The large pause/rewind/ff/stop symbols that appear in the middle of the screen.
These are particularly irritating when I'm trying to step through a sequence frame-by-frame, as I have to wait 5 seconds or so before they disappear and I can actually see the picture content underneath!!

Most players have a menu option to turn-off all on-screen symbols; but the BDP3000 does not (unless it's very well hidden!)
Perhaps someone knows of a hack that can do it?

There are some instances when the symbols do disappear of their own accord; but I'm not sure why this occurs, or how to force the machine into this state.

N.B. I'm using the latest firmware (HQ 00004538).

I've also been frustrated by the composite output, which seems to default to NTSC for all blu-ray discs.
I have managed to force it back into PAL sometimes by selecting "Native" for the HDMI output; but this doesn't always work, and the player sometimes goes back into NTSC mode once the disc starts playing.

(There is nothing in the setup menu to control the composite output; though oddly the HDMI output setting does seem to affect it.)

I wonder if there is a way to force the composite output into PAL permanently?
