Never burned one before and would hate to ruin a disc if done wrong.
    I am using Nero Express 6.3.1.11 and Memorex DVD+R DL 8.5GB 240MIN 2.4X
    Bought a 3 pack today.
I have DVD VOB/IFO/BUP files that equal 6.61GB

I just tried to burn those files as I normally do on regular DVD-R, but it gave me an error.Something about not being able to start burn process.I forgot to keep the log, sorry.
Anyway, the disc is still fine I assume and am able to try again with it.I just need to know if there are settings in Nero I need to set before hand.I cant see anything to change media size or anything. It look slike it knows how big a disc is.

    Thanks in advance

update to the latest NERO. my suggestion would be to convert those files to a ISO image then burn the ISO file with DVD DECRYPTER or IMGBURN. btw VERBATIM DL MEDIA is better quality than those MEMOREX you bought. most people have problems with the MEMOREX DL media.

Burn the resulting .mds file with img burn or dvd decrypter.
I've tried the memorex the first time myself.I found out after, they are ritek D01 discs, and not that good.Don't despair if they don't work on every player,if at all. It's a good bet it's the discs.

I just tried to burn the .iso with DVD Decrypter and it wont.I also saw it said they were RITEK discs.Anyway, I dont think these disc are worth squat. They will not burn at all with my burner.
    I have a LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-832S

I think I just wasted $22 and change

DL burning (or rather, authoring) is far more complex than SL burning if burning your own created content. However it is just as easy if burning commercially created content (ISO Read / ISO Write).

Is this your own content or just a backup of a commercial disc ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

It is not a backup of any disc.It is a stream capture ( not mine )
    Generation : DVB-S -> MPEG VIDEOWIZARD - DVDLAB-PRO -> DVD

Good point regarding a backup as opposed to an authored disc.A whole different game.

OK. Let the fun begin !

I'm not sure how DVD-lab handles it, but there are strict "rules" as to where the layer break can go to remain compliant, and this is the cause of most DL issues. Without knowing the spec word for word, it is something like "the disc must contain more data on layer 1 than on layer 2, and the layer break must fall on the start of a new cell". RecordNow is reportedly very good at this (I haven't used it), but PGCEdit is what I use and it's very helpful in this regard.

Basically you output to a VIDEO_TS folder on your hard drive from your authoring software of choice, then open the DVD in PGCEdit. Then follow this guide:
    https://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?guideid=807#807

    - note that this guide was written with an older version of PGCEdit and the setup sections you need to go to are now in a different spot. Basically you will use PGCEdit to look for a valid spot for the layer break and then use it to create an ISO file, ready to burn with DVDecrypter or IMGBurn. You can even set the process up to launch automatically once the ISO creation is done once you get a bit of practice in.

If there is no valid layer break point then it tells you where you need to start a new cell. How you go about this is up to you, but I use DVDRemake Pro to split the cell into two, and then recompile with PGCEdit and it's all good. It may be worth your while to save your DVD-lab project files until you are confident the burning process has worked successfully.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Yep, it's all just a learning process though

I was extremely confused until I read most of the massive DL thread here:
    https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=225001

and then I started my own thread here:
    https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=301143

I still haven't worked out the timecode issue, but I think it's a problem in the DVDRemake side of things. However, 6 DL burns to date and no coasters
    If in doubt, Google it.

You can always get a log from Nero after you attempt a burn, good or bad, if you look at the NeroHistory file and it is in Core directory, wherever it is. It may have a .log extension or something else, but it is a txt file and you can post it. Make sure and take out your serial number and check it to make sure you only post the last couple of entries. The bottom of the file is the latest.

First off ... do not use Nero to burn Dual Layer DVDs ... I have not seen one good post related to Nero doing a good job.

What do I use .... I use AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 to process the Movie.

I use CloneDVD2 because it allows me to remove the trailers and other crap I don't need. If I'm in a hurry I let CloneDVD2 do the shrinking. I usually keep the Menu.

If I'm going to burn a Dual Layer ... I have CloneDVD2 make a ISO file.

I then use CyberLink Power2Go [version 5 works fine but there is a patch to bump it up to version 5.5 ... which I have installed] to burn the ISO file to a Dual Layer DVD disk.

Using this method ... has not created any coasters.

I bought a 3 pack of Ritek Ridata in the Spring of 2005 and burned one coaster using Nero ... I gave up. Last week I found the other two disks not opened up and tried this new method I'm using and both burned just fine.

But all my other successful burns have been burned on Verbatim disks ... but now I know ... I can use Ritek Ridata disks too ... and most likely be successful.

In another post I talked crap about Ritek Ridata disks ... but I was using a different program a few months back.

But now that I'm using AnyDVD >> CloneDVD2 >> CyberLink Power2Go version 5 [5.5] ... I am having no problems using either disk ... Verbatim or Ritek Ridata.

Got a special question ... PM ... me.

  16. Use PgcEdit and follow the procedure outlined above by Jimmalenko. It's reliable and not at all difficult. Good luck.

CyberLink Power2Go did not do it either. Both for DVD folder and .ISO
I think it is the mix between my media and burner not liking eachother. This has been buned by others perfectly fine but notice they used Verbatim ( when it was mensioned what brand used )

I just did a 6-pass on it with DVD Rebuilder Pro and CCE and fit it to DVD-5 for now untill I can get the right media type.

    OOPS!?
I just went to Meritline.com to have a look at media to get.Figure much more to chose from and better price than at retail stores.
Then I notice something....there are Dual Layer DVD-R Media and there is Double Layer DVD+R Media
I then look at my box of memorex here and it says Double Layer
What are the difference? Would this have anything to do with my burning issue?

If you check the reviews on Memorex disks ... they are mostly bad reviews ... I bought some Memorex awhile back and I did make alot of coasters ... 1.5 to 2 years ago ... I dont buy Memorex anymore.

Also your LITE-ON DVDRW SOHW-832S ... it is also 1.5 years old. I did a search on the Internet and everything I found was dated 2004.

A lot of new models are out now ... a new Lite-On is already out ... I believe the SOHW-1693S is the one I bought around December 2005. And Pioneer has already come out with a few new models too.

It's a good chance you need to update your DVD Burner ... check BestBuy ads ... they've been selling the Pioneers for $50 and $60 bucks ... I buy 2 at a time when I see the ads.

    Pioneer 16x Internal Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive

    Model: DVR-710B5PK ..... $79.99

You can fit tons of music and video onto a single disc, thanks to the double-layer capability of this internal recordable DVD drive.

    Multiformat support for DVD+R/R DL/RW, DVD-R/R DL/RW and CD-R/RW media

Records up to 8.5GB of data or 4 hours of video on compatible DVD+R DL (double layer) and DVD-R DL (dual layer) media

DVD+R DL and DVD-R DL media provide nearly double the DVD storage capacity of standard DVD media
