Hey all,
Has anyone heard of this and used it? http://www.jpldisplays.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=23_25&products_id=570
They say it is MCC manufactured. If so and if it's real, it's a damn good deal. Anyone have any ideas on the legitimacy of this?

I never heard of that company selling these but I do own them, burnt them, and they worked great.

Iomega has been around a long time. The have specialized in backup drives and media for many years. Their early product was the Bernoulli Box and they produced Zip drives and Jaz Drives.
They are unlikley to misrepresent their product. -
Excellent, thanks for the info. I'll have to pick some up then. The site says these discs are made in Taiwan and I know MCC are normally made in Japan, so I was a bit skeptical. Glad to hear the skepticism is not necessary.

I had thought MCC was normally made in Singapore. Now I usually see MCC made in Taiwan, altho the quality seems to remain top-notch.

I can't vouch for the disks but to say that Iomega is unlikely to misrepresent their products considering the lawsuits and issues with Zip and Jaz drivers (search for "click of death" on the web)... I wouldn't go that far. The media may be ok, but I would not buy anything mechanical from them again to save my life.....

I can vouch for the reality of the click of death in Iomega's magnetic drives. I can also vouch for it to be contained to these drives and not effecting their optical drives or media. The click of death is very real. It seems to happen most often in drives manufactured for March 2000 forward. The older, somewhat more sturdy and heavy drives do not experience this. I still have a Iomega zip drives that work without issue. But everytime I install a new one in someones machine it seems to go bad after very little use. I have stopped installing such drives and if someone really needs one I give them a link on the web to purchase what they need in an external format. These drives have also caused several problems for them but at least I am not responsible for it and the drive itself can easily be shipped back without the end user having to open their case to do so.

The media appears good, and Iomega is one of the most trustworthy manufacturers of computer products, but this isn't that good of a deal unless you require inkjet printability.
I recently bought Taiyo Yuden Premium for $0.38 a disc w/ free shipping and I see Best Buy selling Verbatim 25-packs for $7.99 this week. That's a good deal. The Iomegas are not - not even if the shipping were included: You're looking at about $0.50 a disc, maybe more. A look at some of the other media prices shows this vendor is charging considerably more than other shops like supermediastore.com
If Iomega and MCC's reputation mean that much then buy this stuff. The peace of mind is worth it. Just be aware that there are better prices for as-good media elsewhere. -
if your in melbourne check this place http://asplive.creativesoft.com.au/scripts/xtreemlive.wsc/mainp?menu=home

CrayonEater - I'm in Australia, so for here, the prices that store charges are great.
Sifaga - I'll have a look, thanks. -
CrayonEater, inkjet printable media always carries a premium over regular discs. Besides, as the original poster said, he's in Australia. That translates to 17.28 in USD. We can't get Verbatim 16x hub printables for that price in the States.

Ah, thanks, didn't realize.
The whole inkjet printable thing has got me curious about developing proper DVD covers again. I'm going to look into that and perhaps start a new thread on that subject.
