Any one give me an ideal how good, trustable Nero CD/DVD test is.

I just install new DVD rom Lite on 16p9 as slave in my PC to replace 4 years old BTC DVD rom having skip and hang. I ran Nero CD/DVD test with new DVD rom drive and find out some of my back up DVD having so much erros on quality test, but good on scan test. What are the differences between the two?? All my DVD are all watchable on stand a lone and PC as well.

    Thanks for advices,

Put it this way - Nero will never give the same results twice on the Disc Quality test, which should indicate how reliable it is. Changing the read speed will change the results too, so don't place any bets on it. ScanDisc test is probably a better indicator than Disc Quality test.

CD/Speed Disk Quality Test, is a good way to evaluate your burned dvd's, as long as you scan at the proper speed for your drive. Yes there will be some variance, but a disk that will pass a scan test today, may not play a week from now (RITEKG05's), and the quality test will give tell you whether your burn is of high quality, or if it's crap. I've run tests on multiple drives and received vary similar results from dvd's. There will always be some minor variations, but anything in the 90% and above quality test will be good, and anything 70% and lower will always be crap (as long as you are scanning at the proper speed).

  4. I dont know whether it will work/give accurate results but KProbe is software made to work only for LiteOn DVD/CD Writers.

    Give a try.
