When I play .avi/.mpg/.divX files through my DivX dvd player on my TV - does anyone know why the sound sync goes right out the window particularly when I fast-forward or skip-back? - or sometimes even after a pause. I can only go forward or back in X8 mode, can't imagine what it would be like for X64 or more!
Does anyone else have this and is there a solution? (other than not skipping through or pausing the file!)
    Thanks

Does this happen on all files, or only some ?
    What is your player ?
How did you create the files ?
If it is only some files, do they have anything in common, such as VBR MP3 audio ?

It seems to me that pretty much yes all of them it happens to from files - all with usually various sound encoded settings as they are from various downloads, and also certain files I have encoded to work using SUPER ending up as an .avi - divX - mp3 convert. My dvd player is a recent standard Phillips player, £100 from Curry's.
I was wondering if this is kind of an established thing with divX dvd players, where skipping forward and backward with files is just too much for them to cope with (which is why playing from files they seem to have many less functions working than with standard dvd discs) - or if I'm just repeatedly unlucky with my downloads/converts?

I have a Divx capable LG and haven't noticed this problem to date. I have seen it reported here sporadically on some stuff played back on Philips players, but no one seems to have the problems you are having.

well I did have a cheaper DivX player before this Phillips one, I think it was a Panasonic (£50 from Maplins) - it did the same thing. As long as I watch things without skipping around they are usually fine. Any skipping seems to throw everything way off balance.. this is from data created discs aswell so no conversion involved sometimes.
