I wonder if someone could help me I have a Pioneer DVR-420H I have had It for almost 2 years and have had no problems with it but I recently went to copy some programs onto a DVD-rw disc and this message appeared
Cannot copy too much DVD file management data
I have checked the Operating instructions and it says this message means The disc control data limit has been reached, or the number maximum number of chapters and/or titleshas been reached. Erase titles/chapters or combine chapters. In another part of the manual it also says that the HDD may contain upto 250 titles; one DVD disc99 (original) titles and 999 chapters. Check these limits have not been reached there are no where near that amount of titles or chapters on the HDD Could someone please help me fix it and if you can could you please keep the explanation simple as you can probably tell from this I am not very technologicaly minded.
    thank you

Sounds very much like you have simply forgotten to change the copy mode from HDD to DVD disc.

The problem you describe is probably unrelated, but I'm now wondering if there may be some bugs in the firmware, also on my 520. So far, no one has responded to my question

but between that, what you said about the -RW, and scattered incidents reported of "Copy Err", I'm thinking there could be some issues with copying heavily edited material, and particularly if the editing was done inside the Copy List, as opposed to deleting the material for real ??

    Hi seeker47,

I have the Pioneer 530, record in Video Mode 'SP' excl. and if the program I have saved is longer than 1hr.55min, I split the image into 2 parts then record onto 2 DVD-RW. I then use Shrink to edit, encode, re-author and join both images. I backup to DVD-R blanks and to date I haven't experienced any problems whatsoever. I find It's much easier to edit in Shrink on the computer rather than editing from the copy list in the recorder. Once the HDD is full, I delete the contents and start again. Have you tried to re-initialize the DVD-RW disc you were disussing in your post. Another point worth mentioning is, I find recording in Video Mode is more compatable than VR Mode.

As to worzel71's problem, I think his HDD is full and he simply didn't select copy to DVD disc. When the HDD is full you can backup the contents on the HDD to DVD-RW without any error messages.

I'm fairly certain this will wipe the disk clean, and anything that might possibly still be there will be lost for sure. I wouldn't try that until after I'd had a go with ISOBUSTER on the disk.
