What the **** are wrong with these guides? None of them work. http://www.dvd-guides.com/content/view/46/59/

That is horrible. I install DVDShrink, go to the folder where my files are and stupid DVDShrink shows nothing in the freakin' folder.

I just want to combine some stupid video. How freakin' hard does this have to be.

No very hard at all, at least for me and many others here. I've combined video from different titles with easy several times using the method outlined in the guide you referenced.

More details and less attitude might get your more help.

    Great,

so why doesn't DVD shrink show anything in the folder when I broswe to it? What file type is it looking for? I have all the files there, IFO, BUP, and VOB.

    But nothing shows.

I rip from DVD to my harddrive in file mode using AnyDVD. Can you also rip using DVDFab Decrypter or DVDDecrypter. This rip produces a VIDEO_TS folder that contains the unencrypted video in the form .ifo, .bup & .vob files. I then browse to the VIDEO_TS folder in DVD Shrink and open the video. Note that under preferences I have "automatically open VIDEO_TS subfolders" checked.

Okay, so here is my problem:

If you click "re-author" first like the guide says, (for me) DVDShrink will not show ANY subfolders or any files. I have to click on "Open Files" first. Once the files are open then go to "re-author".

I'm not a big fan of this program. This seems like a stupid hack and just bad programing from the creators

    Thanks for the hand, rkr1958.
    Know anything about ifoEdit?

Are you using the latest (and by the way the last) version of DVDShrink? (Which is version 3.2). I had no problem hitting the Re-Author button first and browsing to a video ripped (i.e., VIDEO_TS folder).

DVDShrink, which happens to be free, is one of the most functional and stable programs (free or paid) that I've every used. It's a favoriate by far of many people here and at other video sites. Some friendly welcoming advice, which you may take or leave, insulting DVDShrink or any other program for that manner without first learing how to use it and giving it a good try is just poor form and will not get you very far on this site. By the way, the author of DVDShrink was hired by Nero to create a commerical version of DVDShrink which I believe is called Nero Recode.

Yes, a fair amount. However, mastering ifoEdit is much more difficult than mastering DVDShrink. If you're getting frustrated with DVDShrink, which I consider very easy to use, you're likely to get much more frustrated with ifoEdit.

Yes and it simply doesn't work like that.

Then lets hope he does a better job with his programming

Please let us know when you create an easy to use, easy to install transcoder like DVDShrink so we can critique yours as fairly as you've critiqued DVDShrink.

D-7...in my humble opinion....you are doing nothing but making a complete ass of yourself.

I open DVDShrink 3.1 and get the following:

I click on the Reauthor button and get the following:

I then select my DVD-RW drive, and get the following:

Can you take some screenshots to document what you do and what you get ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

Let me get his straight... you can't follow some simple guidelines so you put down a free piece of software that thousands if not hundreds of thousands have used successfully. Others take the time to offer detailed advice, you find out what YOU are doing wrong and now your going to take your ball and go home.....

If there is any Jackass here it is you.

    ********!

So what if I don't like a program is that any reason to bitch at me about it. If I would have said, I don't like Internet Explorer, everyone would have jumped right in and hated it with me. Bunch of hypocrites!

Off to get a new proxy

I'm guessing it must have been an I-D-10-T / PEBCAK (Problem Existed Between Keyboard And Chair) error.

It's a great pity that the user came in with a defeatist attitude, got some attitude in return, then got some assistance and then refused to post the solution to help anyone else who might experience the same problem. It's kosher to leave the answers on display for future generations.
    If in doubt, Google it.
