What happened to the Virtualdub guides, on DVD to Avi, and DVD to Divx, VOB to Avi, and etc? Seems like some of the guides aren't listed under the Virtualdub app. page. When I do a search on theses types of conversion, there isn't a listing using Virtualdub.

Has everyone given up on this app? Is there a better way of converting these files?

Yes, use autogk or handbrake. Virtualdub is no dvd to avi converter.

Virtualdub works fine for me using MPEG2 plugin.

Save DVD to PC as single VOB.

    Open VOB in Virtualdub.

Demux 5.1 AC3 and add to Virtualdub using Audio > Audio from other file (you'll need the AC3 plugin for this). Choose Direct Stream Copy for audio.

Select compression of choice for video and save.

You can also use DGIndex to create an AVS file to open in Virtualdub. Here is a guide...

EDIT: Here is the page you were looking for, I think. Most of these are old guides though and don't take advantage of the plugins and features of the new versions of Virtualdub.

And don't forget search for guides virtualdubmod and virtualdub-mpeg2. They had mpeg2 support first.

But I stilL say it's not any dvd to avi converter...just a vob/mpeg2 to avi converter.

Wasn't there a way for Virtual Dub to capture AVI frames and send them to TMPGEnc as a MPEG?
There are no problems - only chances to excel.
