    Hi,
Something odd is happening with my Zenith XBV443 combo DVD/VHS player. Occasionally, when playing a DVD, i get contant, annoying crackling in the audio. Now, it doesnt happen with every DVD... so far, one I've made one with 1Click DVD Copy (using Fugi DVD+R), and another commercial DVD i rented from the video store (The Incredibles). On both DVDs, the audio crackled throughout (menus, everything). However, some DVDs (most, i'd say) are fine. I also try them on my other DVD player, Philips DVP642, and everything sounds fine!!!

So what's up? I'm authoring a whole bunch right now using Ulead DVD Workshop. Is there anything I can do to ensure this wont happen?

It sounds like a dirty laser or the drive is starting to crap out ,so try a dvd cleaner and if not then time to get another unit.

well, tried it..... it doesnt seem like a dirty laser though, since MOST dvds play perfectly fine. For the same reason, it doesnt seem like the drive is going bad..... most DVDs are good.

  4. Combos can be prone to heat problems. Don't have anything above or below it that produces heat, it should have open space on the sides and rear too. Don't leave the power on when not in use.
